ALOT OF SCREWING GOING ON!

This summer the deck needed to be rebuilt. I am not sure how many yrs ago it had been built but it's been atleast 15 yrs. Long before I bought this house 7 yrs ago.

So the plan was to replace all the floor boards and the beams underneath, plus all the cross planks. We only planned to keep the side rails. We will replace those with different ones next yr. Hoping to do front stairs leading down to another open platform next summer. For now we are doing what we can afford ...and prevent one of us (probably me) falling through the damn thing!

Chris had Cleo to help him. She was a huge help and thankfully she isn't afraid of hard work. I just supervised through the doorway, while taking photos lol....(hey, I have to care for Luc our blind guy remember?) ....(was very thankful of that this week lol).

Here they are tearing up the rotten planks....

They worked so hard, I am proud of them both!! From tues to sat they really gave it their all. Yesterday was beautiful out, after everything was put back on the deck we enjoyed a nice supper out on our SAFE new deck! ( double click on any pic to go to flicker to see a few more photos to this series if u want)

Anyone else with reno projects this summer? What are u doing? Or just going away on holiday this yr? Share...

Hey, our deck needs some work. Any chance they would want to do it? With you to supervise of course.Your daughter looks quite comfortable with those power tools. Good for her.

Hee hee, that was a great visual diary. What a great achievement your loved ones did - great result.

What a great job they have done. What a brilliant young girl. You must be very proud. In August we are having the walls stuffed and the loft lagged - all at no expense but MTL is 'preparing' which is driving me nuts. At present he is just in the attic and has made the two rooms chaotic . I dread him moving downstairs

We have 1500 sq. feet of decking around our pool, and have been having a guy replace a few boards at a time, since it is so expensive to do it! Your new one looks great. Maybe they'd like to come to NC and do ours?

Hey, it sounds like you have a great crew. We could use them here! :-)

They did an amazing job, lucky you!

What an enormous job! My Lordy...that had to be incredibly hard work! I am always in awe of people who can do this kind of HUGE Job, themselves...I mean this is MAJOR! At least it is, to me!
CONGRATULATIONS to them both and how lovely that you already used it! That has to feel so wonderful. It is a truly amazing accomplishment.
