I recieved this from a friend and thought it was so apt. I being bilingual sometimes forget how difficult it can be for my daughter who only speaks french or even Chris who is very good in english but has a sexy french accent to go with it hehe...after reading this it gave me a better understanding of some of his frustrations with the language lol.

YES, ANGELS REALLY EXIST

If you read my last post you know that this week had been difficult to say the least. I had a knot in my stumach for 3 days trying to deal with it all. My ear was also numb from being on the phone with this person and that person to then be reffered to yet another person. I did get pertinent info along the way but eventually came to the conclusion that we would be paying out $3000 in damages to repair the car. We do realize freely that we had part in the misinformation but it was done in good faith with no purposefull intention to hide anything.

In calling the Quebec Bureau of Insurance, I was assured that although they acted badly, the company in question was within their rights to cancel us and walk away etc. Now I needed to call back the former agent that had previously insured our old vehicles and see if he could negotiate insurance after repairs are done. If not, then I had to try with 5 other companies. If all that failed I was to fill out a form she was sending me then they would take over the negotiations. I did as she said and called back our former agent. He informs me that he could not talk to me about any of it anymore, he got that as a clear directive from higher up...I was like, what?? why would they tell u not to talk to me when u did nothing wrong? he just continued to say, u have to talk to my boss...ok, no problem, I just need to talk to whoever can help me. He insures me that his boss with return my call. ( am kinda baffled at this point)

Phone rings..its Chris calling from work. He says..ARE U SITTING DOWN? ...Yes I say, WHAT NOW??... he says that he just got called by the new agent that insured our new vehicle...u know the one, called 2 days earlier saying.. UM the insurance company have dropped u and your claim......

He said that miraculously, the company just called with a total CHANGE of heart. They are re-instating our original insurance, will pay the claim with only one change in contract being, they just want us to pay our year of insurance upfront. SURE NO PROBLEM!!...give me the bill ,,,,I can't remember the last time I wanted to pay off a bill so fast lol.

We were so releived u have no idea but we were also very curious to know WTF...WHO , WHERE, WHEN AND WHAT HAPPENED??? We must have a gardian angel.

We found out who our angel is.

Remember in last post when I wrote how the Hyundai dealership, service department director lady, was really pissed at how we were treated? She went so far as to tell Chris how she would make sure said company knew that she would refuse to refer them in future etc.......

In life, how often does it happen that u hear ppl say...WELL HAD IT BEEN ME, I WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM!!! or THEY ARE DAMN LUCKY THEY DIDN'T DEAL WITH ME! or WOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED DIFFERENT WITH ME I TELL YA! Then or if anything happens they turn into pithy excuses with deflated chests at the end of the day saying, well I did what I could bla bla bla

WELL this lady was all FIRE AND BRIMSTONE going to the Matt for us, ppl she doesn't even know. We talked to her this morning , she was thrilled when Chris called, he said...man Chantal, we beleive we have an angel in our corner cause things have totally changed out of the blue. She laughed and went on to tell him that she had infact done what she said she would.

She told him that she called said company and used words that she normally wouldn't use in public. Totally blasting them to bits and sighting that with that kind of business ethic she and Hyundai wanted nothing more to do with them. She had 10 salesmen and 4 finance ppl who will as of now, remove all business cards of referral from their desks. They most certainly saved $3000 in this claim payment but they would lose a hell of alot more money in the long run from them no longer reffering them...and so on.

She went on to tell Chris that she felt great about it. To add that sometimes we sit at a job and wonder if we are good at it. Does what I do make a difference or not. She told Chris that after 2 yrs in her job position, she really felt like she made a difference and also realised that she had some good clout behind her that she aquired by doing a good job. In the end she needed something like that to happen as much for us as for herself.

What a woman of integrity...cheers for CHANTAL TARDIF....Super Service Director for Hyundai Canada.

Also another twist is the former agents boss returned my call. I told him that everything had worked out after all but I thanked him for the time he took to call me and Chris the day before and today. He went on to say he was happy all was ok, he thought that it had been handled badly by other company etc and to be sure to call them back next yr if we wanted to go back to them....to feel free to call his employe(the one advised not to talk to me)to resume business when our contract was up etc

Not 10 mins later, Mr (cant talk to me) calls to apologize for is earlier abruptness and was so sorry if he came off rude in anyway. I just told him that I understood and that I had also told his boss that the only thing I told him was that Chris and I both appreciated all the time he had put in trying to help us initially. He seemed releived and said same as his boss about please remembering them in a years time when my present contract was up. They would be pleased to try and get us the best price and do business with us again.

TALK ABOUT A TURN AROUND!!!

We told Chantal that words could not really express how thankful we are to her. She said that was thanks enough.
But just to try and show her, she will be receiving a really nice bouquet of flowers in a gorgeous vase this afternoon at her desk hehe.............I mean WOW she saved us 3 grand..it's the least we can do.

Card says......Chantal, it's not often that people get the chance to thank their gardian angel. THANK YOU............Chris & Monette

COME TO US FOR INSURANCE!!!!....UNTILL U HAVE A CAIM THAT IS

This is the story of a happy couple buying their first brand new vehicle. Part of that exciting process is shopping for the best insurance prices. So as the happy fairy tale continues the couple get different quotes and go with the one they are pleased with among all others. A few questions are asked and answered and thinking all is fine, the ball is set rolling with all concerned. Our agent has insured us with L'unique Insurance. Papers are faxed to dealership for signing, confirmation that all is fine comes through and we drive home with glee in our new vehicle. Thursday 19th May/05

Friday I cancel our previous insurance handler because we traded in both of our old vehicles in for this new one.

Two days go by and happy couple have some bad luck. On his way to work, Chris is faced with a lone wheel in the middle of the highway. He has the choice of rear ending a semi truck or going over the wheel hoping it will clear the bottom. It doesn't. It hits the undercarriage and does some damage. No one knows where the wheel came from. He is able to drive it to a garage to assess damages. They consider it prudent to just have it towed to the dealership. He does just that. It is Saturday on a long weekend so we can do nothing till businesses open on the Tuesday.

We do what anyone would do. We call the pertinent people to make our unfortunate claim so soon after getting our new car. We have been told that it is a substantial repair. Aprox $3000 in damage. We are then called back in the same day by the insurance agent who gave us the great quote the week before and informed us that ....UM the insurance company you were signed to, refuse to take your claim or be your insurers because you signed a form fraudulently.

Brief background....my partner had made 2 late payments almost 3 yrs ago with ING insurance during a difficult time in his life. He rectified this but his policy had been cancelled nonetheless. They then reinstated his insurance when I added him to my policy over one yr ago. They even mentioned to me that he had a previous cancellation in the past just for my information but were willing to insure him again with me. We assumed the info in our dossier was open and taken care of for any future scrutiny if needed.

When buying a car as most know, there are it seems a million papers to sign. Yes, they are gone through one by one with a brief description then pen is handed over and we sign, sign, sign...Chris is the first to say it was his fault for not stopping to read it all. One of said forms had masses of numbers and whatnot with regards to the insurance plus mention of integrated alarm, Sherlock engraving, yrs of Chris' licence, his occupation Chemist, no infractions, no cancellations without payment and extras excluded (before vehicle is given) ................so he signed this form thinking that it didn't apply to him because as far as we were concerned , the (no cancellations without payment) wasn't true because that had been taken care of and he had been re-insured with same company. We hid nothing and were never asked about previous policy issues during the questions/ answers period with insurance quotes. Nor was it asked about days later when we told the insurance agent we would take his business, nor when the faxes were confirmed. We honestly thought it was old but nonetheless open information on the former ING dossier with our names on it.

Only when it came time to claim damage did L' Unique then decide to not insure us, using the signed form as an excuse to not be our insurers. We were then told that we had 14 days in which we were still legally insured by old company but I had cancelled our old insurance the day after getting the new vehicle. We didn't even have the old cars we used to, so that insurance was no longer necessary. When we called back, we were initially told by the agent that the cancellation had not been registered as of yet. Later in the day after the agent made calls to get info on our behalf with ING it was then stated that they HAD registered cancellation. Thus, giving them the ability to wash their hands of us We never received an official cancellation of insurance from the L,Unique company that supposedly insured our new car either. We have been playing phone tag with the different agents to end up with NO INSURANCE and a new car to repair.

I realize some of the blame is on our side. We totally understand that but somewhere in all this. Someone else didn't do their job and has left the whole bag in our lap. We and everyone else are potential PAYING customers for these companies so they are quick to want to sign us up...but the second they need to pay its over.........Had we not had an accident, how long would we have been insured by this company? Would we still have been cancelled? Or asked about the existing mark on previous record to be explained as rectified?

We may have a legal case but after having to pay $3000 on repairs will it cost us another $3000 in legal fees?

One place I can say that has treated us with respect and much heart felt service is oddly enough the Hyundai dealership. The service department has acted with much human compassion, helpfulness and understanding. It was a shock to them as well that this happened. So far as even mentioned an abrupt halt in their dealings/referrals with said insurance company. They are doing all they can to facilitate our need to repair our vehicle.

So you can imagine how stressed we have been since the accident but mostly in the last 2 days with this going on.

TAAA DAAAAAAAAAA

Look at that handsome m.......oops, vehicle...is that a nice piece of work or what eh?!?
We put over a 120 klics on it the first day. It was so nice driving around in a new car we were like giggling teens. Later that evening Chris says we need to get a small
CD rack or something..I look at him oddly and say, hun we have a place for them already..he says where?..... I will show u, come on.......
We both have new key chains with the automatic door lock/unlock and alarm doodads...he unlocks the alarm and doors...and the alarm tweek sound and flashing lights we see now that its dark, makes us giggle with glee again..(we are such goobers)...open the door, interior light goes on, I show him the hidden cubby hole he didn't know was there , he is like WOW hehe...we shut the door to go back in the house when we notice that the interior light doesn't just shut off....it FADES OFF...we are both ....wow look at that!...I say...do it again (like a 3 yr old) he opens and closes the door with a little boy grin on his face and we both watch in awe at the fading interior light ...two goobers grinning ear to ear.

That was the good news......So what is the one thing anyone with any car but especially a new car, Dreads?...either the first stratch or of course AN ACCIDENT!...

Yes...Chris had an accident this morning on his first day driving to work with the new vehicle......HE IS OK...it was either smashing into the back of an 18 wheeler or going over a wheel that was smack dab in the middle of the autoroute!...he opted to going over the wheel...duhhhh.....wasnt a major accident but the wheel did hit something in the undercairrage so it has a rattle. He got to work fine but to not cause any more damage he is having it towed to the dealership here so they can fix whatever is wrong...oh and lucky us, all dealerships are closed on weekends in Quebec and yay, it's a long weekend to boot with the queen's fricken bday on Monday so that means we have to rent a car so chris can go to work tomorrow.

I am so very thankful that Chris is ok and no one else was hurt. It could have been so much worse. It is just a real bumber and a kick in the pants to have this happen 2 days after getting a new car. It would have been nothing to us had it happened to one of our 2 old cars. Sheesh...dems the breaks lol.

UPDATE!!.. After being on the phone most of the day findng out about renting a car and other details, I was able to cancel the reserved rental car. Chris happened to bump into a colleage at work who also works weekends and ironically lives near us. She will pick Chris up for work tomorrow and bring him home so we will be able to save the rental fees on a car PHEW! That worked out well..a few bucks saved. Although Chris is sure it isn't to serious we still have no idea what its going to cost after a thourough check up. Ya we have a bumper to bumper quarantee but accidental causes still cost.

ALL IS GOOD I TELL YA, IT IS GOING TO BE JUST FINEEEEEEEEEE! (she says with a scarily miniacle crazed look on her face while squeezing hands full of hair on each side of her head)

DO YA THINK IT'S A SIGN?

As I mentioned in my last post about getting a new vehicle, I am sure others have had second and third thoughts on it as they wait for their new vehicle to arrive. I have to admit to having those very thoughts. You now the ones...like...Well our cars are still in working order, Not having car payments is great, Do we REALLY need a new car, Maybe we should wait...and on and on and on.

Well given all this introspection, it's mind boggling when you get a sign that seems to assuage all your doubts. Let me explain.

Of the two vehicles, Chris' jeep is the worse off. It needs new breaks, and the whole directional is going south, it's actually dangerous to drive. So I told Chris that I didn't want him to take anymore chances driving the thing untill its time to bring it to the dealers. Mine is in better shape motor and break wise etc. So this week he took my car instead. He is on his way home thursday evening , his job is about 45 mins away. He is almost home when he calls me on the cell and says....

"YOUR CAR DIED!!"..."NO WAY!!" I say.."Nope, it just stopped and I had just enough time to get it to the side of the highway lol." "OH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!" I say...he is laughing though and says he was almost home even. He is telling me where so I can drive to him with the jeep, but before he finishes he realizes I can't go anywhere because of Luc...(and no I can't bring him, he is unstable in a car and has to have 2 ppl in a vehicle or it could be dangerous) besides the fact I hate driving the jeep, I barely reach the damn peddles!!........(shut up Shan)

Anyway I tell Chris.."Hun, look in your wallet, you have a CAA card in there for a reason lol...I didn't get a membership for nothing." He says, "I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THAT"...so he calls , waits, gets towed to the closest garage, gets home, walks in....gives me a big hug and says.......

"You now what...I always had to deal with everything for myself or figure out what to do or just take care of everything the hard way before...I never had any help. Thats why I didn't even think of the CAA card. Just way to easy lol...I LOVE YOU"...

Funny how seemingly simple things to some, can be huge to others. ......ok...I digress..

Garage next day...Chris goes to see the guy. We both pray it isn't major..we DO NOT want to spend much on a car thats going to the dealer in the next few days. He tells him that but they both also think it must be something simple by what happened. GOOD NEWS, took then short time to figure out it was the distributor cap..PHEWWWWW... a few bucks and a tip..and the car is home!!.........but all we both could think and say was.....

TALK ABOUT A SIGN WE ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING!!!!!

We are both so sure and happy about our pending purchase with no doubts! Now we can't wait till they call us to say our NEW VEHICLE HAS ARRIVED!!!!...

A BIG thanks to the gods or the little angel on our shoulders for making it an inexpensive sign lol

YES, I AM REALLY HERE

Yes, I am still here lol. I have been spending time with Chris. We have been busy since he got back from France. He brought back lots of decadently delicious things from Paris along with really nice presents for my daughter, myself and my family since we are going across Canada this summer to see them. He left with a suitcase full of presents and returned with a suitcase just as full lol. Good thing he didn't need room for much clothes lol. Mom did his laundry lol.

Since being back we have started planning our summer trip which will be in August. We have also started planning what we will plant this summer. But best of all, we just got approved to buy a BRAND SPANKING NEW VEHICLE!!!! WHOOO HOOO!!! I know, I know...eye rolls...get a hold of yourself your saying.....Hell, it will be the first new vehicle for both of us ever. Both our vehicles are 11 yrs old . His jeep is about to fall apart if we look at it the wrong way and mine is running good but the rust on it is about to make it implode in a poof of red dust lol....lets just say it was now or never if we wanted to get any return out of both vehicles. We are trading both in for the new one...we have no need for 2 cars. When Chris is at work, I don't need to go anywhere anyway. I have to stay home with Luc. Oh btw, we are getting the super scotchguard treatment on the seats for Mr Pissy Pants Luc ...just in case lol. We are purchasing a Santa Fe 4x4. ...We will be sure to take a pic of it in our driveway hehe......speaking of pics...to get back to the top of this post and Chris' trip. We have yet to download all the pics he took so I will post some of them when that happens.

I also want to add a small footnote to this blog totally unrelated to this post. I have been tagged by a lovely friend to do a (MEME) thinging. I have to admit to not being a team player on this subject...I have never done a MEME on my blog and I don't plan on doing one anytime soon. But thanks for thinking of me nonetheless.
HUGSSSSSSSSSSS
